Translation and Localization
Translation
and localization are closely related terms that are often confused.
Translation
is the process of converting textual content from one language to
another, with the aim of making such content available to foreign
language speakers.
Localization
goes a step further and focuses on transforming a product or textual
content into an experience for local users, allowing them to
perceive the product or content as if it was developed or authored
by their local community members. This process takes into account
all kinds of cultural aspects such as units for measurements and
weights, sorting criteria, tax regulations, geographical locations,
etc.
