We’re happy to announce that we’ve just released Xbench 3.0 build 1369, which adds support for Google Translator Toolkit (GTT).

The support for GTT also requires the latest Xbench Chrome Extension (version 1.0.6).

Once you have the latest Xbench 3.0 and Xbench Chrome Extension installed on your machine, the steps to instantly load your current GTT document in Xbench for QA are:

1. Open the Google Translator Toolkit document in Chrome. You will notice that the Xbench Chrome Extension icon will become pink.
2. Click the Xbench Chrome Extension icon.
3. Double-click the .xbp file that is downloaded. Xbench will load with the segments for the GTT document in Xbench so that you can run a QA as usual.

We’re happy to announce that we have just released another integration with a online CAT tool: Matecat.

While it is certainly true that Xbench is a desktop-only tool and Matecat is an online-only tool suprisingly, the integration is very smooth, even magic!

We’re happy to announce that we have just put in place a community forum at http://forum.xbench.net.

The forum is based on the Discourse platform and we’ll be adding typical questions or support issues to it on an ongoing basis so that you can quickly search the forum DB.

In other words, that besides the intrinsic goal of any forum of eventually connecting the user community, we will also try that over time the forum becomes a conveniently searchable and comprehensive Knowledge Base built over time with actual questions raised by our users.

We will be monitoring the forum for questions and will endeavor to answer them, although the official support site will continue to be our Contact Support form.

The Forum will probably the best place for How do I…-like questions, regex questions for Xbench checklists, or for bringing up ideas and suggestions, while using Contact Support is probably the best option if you anticipate that your issue is a bug that most likely will involve sending files to us to reproduce, fix, and verify.

We are happy to announce that the Xbench manuals are now also available in Traditional Chinese. The new Traditional Chinese manuals can be downloaded from our Documentation page.

We are very thankful to Borysoft, who also took care of the translation of Xbench manuals into Simplified Chinese, for their continued effort to make Xbench manuals available to the broader Chinese user community. Borysoft is a newly created company based in Shenzen, China and specializes in translation and software localization into Simplified Chinese, Traditional Chinese, and Korean.

With the Traditional Chinese addition, the Xbench 3.0 documentation is now available in 9 languages!

We’re happy to announce that we’ve just released a new Xbench 3.0 build and it is available for download.

The main new additions in this build are:

• Support for Wordfast Pro 4. Wordfast Pro 4 introduces a new XLIFF-based bilingual file format, with file extension .txlf that will replace format .txml in earlier versions of Wordfast Pro. To load files into Xbench in the new Wordfast Pro format, you should select file type Wordfast Pro TXML/TXLF.
• Support for Déjà Vu/Idiom termbases. A new file type has been added to support termbases in .wstb and .dvtdb format.
• Support for memoQ termbases in CVS format. Now Xbench can load memoQ termbases in memoQ CVS format. To load files in this format, choose Xbench file type memoQ File.
• Support for Translation Workspace XLIIF files. Now Xbench recognizes Translation Workspace .xlz files in its XLIFF file type.

As usual, in the change log you can see the list of changes and additions in this build.

We are very thankful to Boris Zhang from Borysoft, a company based in Shenzhen, China specializing in software localization into Simplified Chinese, Traditional Chinese, and Korean, for their great effort to make Xbench manuals available to the Chinese user community.

Thanks to Borysoft‘s hard work, Simplified Chinese becomes the first Asian language with the Xbench 3.0 manuals translated.

With Simplified Chinese addition, the Xbench 3.0 documentation is now available in 8 languages.

We’re glad to annouce that the user’s guide of the ApSIC Xbench Connector for Memsource is now available in French.

Thanks to Franck Charreire hard work, now the whole set of ApSIC Xbench documentation is available in French and can be downloaded from our Documentation page.

We’ve recently received a few support calls asking us when the Xbench Plugin for SDL Studio will support SDL Studio 2015.

The truth is that it already has been supporting SDL Studio 2015 it for a while! Namely, SDL Studio 2015 is supported since we rebuilt the installer back in April 23 (almost 4 months ago!), so if you recently installed the Xbench plugin for Studio, there are good chances that your Xbench installation already supports SDL Studio 2015.

Therefore, if after you upgrade to Studio 2015 the Xbench icon does not already appear in the Studio 2015 Ribbon, just do the following:

1. Close SDL Studio 2015.
2. Download and install the latest Xbench plugin from the Xbench Download page.
3. Start SDL Studio 2015.

After the above steps, the Xbench icon should appear on your SDL Studio 2015 Ribbon and work exactly on SDL Studio 2015 as it does on SDL Studio 2014.

We’re happy to announce that the Xbench 3.0 manuals are now available in Italian! The new Italian manuals can be downloaded from our Documentation page.

Giacomo Falconi, co-founder of the Italian translation company Wordbridge, has translated into Italian the Xbench 3.0 Quick Reference Guide and the Xbench Plugin for Trados Studio User’s Guide.

Giacomo has also taken care of the translation of Xbench 3.0 User’s Guide, building on the translation for a previous version of Xbench made by Paolo Troiani.

With this addition, besides English, there are Xbench 3.0 manuals available in 6 languages: Czech, French, German, Italian, Spanish, and Polish.

We’re happy to announce that we’ve just released build 6 for Xbench Connector for Memsource. You can download it now from here.

The main new features in this new beta build of the Xbench Connector for Memsource are the following:

• If the Memsource project has termbases attached, the Run QA in Xbench will allow you to include also these termbases as a reference in your QA (this is exactly how it is done in the Xbench plugin for Studio).

• If the Memsource project has workflow steps defined, you can compare files from two workflow steps. It is useful for auditing/assessing the work of a reviewer or to create a report of changes for feedback to translator. The Comparison Report is the same obtained with ApSIC Comparator if you are familiar with it (a bilingual table of changes with tracked changes)
