Xbench Control Panel Available at www.xbench.net
Posted: March 7th, 2013 under ApSIC Xbench.
We’re glad to announce the availability at www.xbench.net of the Xbench Control Panel.
The Control Panel uses the same credentials in Xbench, so if you already signed up with Xbench, you can use the same password.
Please note that to use the Control Panel you need to have purchased one or more subscription years.
With the Control Panel you can:
- Add or remove authorized users. An authorized user is an email signed up in Xbench that you authorize to use Xbench.
- Name up to 3 delegates. A delegate is an email signed up in Xbench that can manage your account for you, including adding or removing authorized users or naming other delegates.
- Change your billing details for future invoices issued by ApSIC.
Please remember that your subscription years are assigned to the email who purchased them, so if you made your purchase with paypal@greatLSP.com, but your real Xbench users are john@greatLSP.com and mary@greatLSP.com, you will need to:
- Complete the sign up process for paypal@greatLSP.com. You can now create Xbench accounts directly in the Xbench Control Panel.

Xbench 3.0 Build 1107: New Support for memoQ 6 Hand-off and Hand-back Packages
Posted: February 15th, 2013 under ApSIC Xbench.
In Xbench 3.0 build 1107, a new file type has been added to Xbench, “memoQ File”.
This new file type is now the home for three memoQ file formats:
- mqxlz, which was already supported in the “XLIFF File” type, but now the new type will become the default one. Existing projects with mqxlz files with the generic XLIFF file type will continue to work normally. The only thing that changed here is that when you drag and drop a mqxlif file into the Project Properties dialog, now the detected file type will be “memoQ File” instead of “XLIFF type”.
- mqout, the hand-off package. For this format, Xbench loads the embedded documents and also any embedded off-line TMs included in the package.
- mqback, the hand-back package. For this format, Xbench loads the embedded documents, which can be useful if you want to do a last-minute QA pass of all files right before your delivery to your client.
The new build is available for download from the Xbench website, www.xbench.net.
If you run into any issues with this new file type or have suggestions on improvements on how to develop it further, please do not hesitate to let us know!
Xbench Workshop by Jarosław Hirny at Translation and Localization Conference in Warsaw, March 23-24
Posted: January 14th, 2013 under ApSIC Xbench.
Over the last few years, our perception has been that Poland seems to have a special connection with Xbench. Some facts:
- The first community translation of Xbench User’s Guide was into Polish, by Michał Tosza and Małgorzata Pietsch.
- Poland is consistently among the Top 5 countries in terms of visitors for our website.
- Some unbelieveably well documented, ready-to-fix bug reports have come from Polish users.
- The first order of Xbench 3.0 was placed by a Polish translator based in Denmark, just a couple hours after our new www.xbench.net site went live.
So it was not a big surprise when localize.pl, one of the the organizers of the Translation and Localization Conference that will take place on 23-24 March in Warsaw, told us that next conference will feature an workshop on Quality Assurance with Xbench by Polish trainer and translator Jarosław Hirny.
From these lines, we would like to give a big thanks to the Polish community of Xbench users, for all the help and support we received from them over all these years, and we look forward to keeping this special connection for years to come!
Spanish LSP MSS buys a One-Century Subscription for Xbench 3.0
Posted: January 8th, 2013 under ApSIC Xbench.
We’ve been receiving orders of various sizes over the last few weeks.
Some users prefer to buy just one year to take an early peek over the next year and then decide what to do next year, and some other users opt to stock up as many years as possible early during this beta.
Today we received a one-hundred years subscription from MSS, a Spanish LSP with a 20-strong team that decided to secure coverage for 5 years for each user and get the most out of the great beta promotion.
For us, this is a very, very encouraging sign and also a great token of confidence because we know for a fact that MSS is already an avid user of Xbench 2.9, and avid users often are the most reluctant for change because they already like what they have and even the small subtle UI changes can annoy them greatly.
So we are pleased to see that MSS decided to come on board with Xbench 3.0 and we look forward to continuing to receive the great suggestions and bug reports from their team, now also for Xbench 3.0.
